Professor Chungwon Lee received his B.S. in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Urban Engineering and his M.S. in Transportation Engineering from Seoul National University, followed by a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. He worked at UT Austin's Center for Transportation Research, the Seoul Development Institute, Inha University, and the University of Seoul before joining Seoul National University in 2012.
His research develops engineering principles and integrated future transportation systems for fast, safe, and efficient movement of people and goods. Topics include traffic-flow theory, intelligent transportation systems, traffic operations and management, network design and optimization, Mobility as a Service, demand-responsive transit, travel behavior, autonomous and eco-friendly vehicles, and transportation for pedestrians and mobility-disadvantaged users. He has also served as an editor and committee chair in major transportation organizations.
