Professor Joo-Young Park received her B.S. and M.S. in Civil, Urban and Geosystem Engineering from Seoul National University and her Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from Yale University, where she also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Industrial Ecology. After faculty appointments at Universidad de los Andes and Korea University, she joined Seoul National University in 2022. She serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Industrial Ecology and as an Associate Editor of Cleaner Production Letters.
Her research quantifies society's material and energy flows and evaluates their environmental impacts to support the transition to carbon neutrality and a circular economy. She combines material-flow analysis, life-cycle assessment, and data-driven modeling to study embodied carbon in buildings and infrastructure and the circular use of plastics, wood, photovoltaics, batteries, water, and other resources, supporting national and urban policy and industrial decisions.
