Professor Young-Sang Kwon received his B.Arch., M.Arch., and Ph.D. in Architecture from Seoul National University. He gained professional experience in urban design at Heerim Architects & Planners and prepared master plans for major national projects, including Sejong Administrative City and the Saemangeum New City, at the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements. At the Architecture & Urban Research Institute, he conducted urban-design research on waterfront development and historic-cultural urban regeneration and contributed to master plans including Busan Eco Delta City. After joining Incheon National University in 2012, he moved to Seoul National University in 2014. His activities span academia and practice, including appointments at the University of California, Berkeley and Keio University and service on national and Seoul metropolitan planning committees.

His representative work includes master plans for major government-led new towns such as Sejong Administrative City and Busan Eco Delta City, as well as urban-design projects for existing-city redevelopment, including Seoul's expedited integrated planning and station-area development. His research examines the historical, social, and humanistic dimensions of urban form and spatial structure to forecast and plan future cities. He also studies sustainable cities, smart cities, AI-enabled cities, overseas urban development, private-sector development, and ways to realize the public interest through urban planning.
