Infrastructure Structural Engineering Goh, Heedong Assistant Professor Structural Engineering
About

Professor Heedong Goh received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Seoul National University and his Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin, where his dissertation focused on the inverse design of metamaterials for wave control. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Photonics Initiative at the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center, studying electromagnetic-wave control and anomalous scattering. He joined Seoul National University in fall 2024.

His research centers on interactions between waves and matter across electromagnetic and elastic-wave systems. He investigates wave scattering, numerical modeling, and inverse problems for the design and imaging of wave-based devices. Specific topics include passive image processing using lenses, analog computing based on light scattering, subsurface imaging, seismic-wave control, statistical approaches to large-scale nonlinear systems, and high-performance computing for wave simulation.
