Infrastructure Construction Management Ham, Youngjib Associate Professor Construction Management
About

Professor Youngjib Ham received his B.S. and M.S. from Seoul National University and his M.S. in Computer Science and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He served on the faculties of Florida International University and Texas A&M University before joining Seoul National University in 2024. His research focuses on AI-enabled smart construction, construction automation, and robotics. He has served as President of the Korean-American Construction Engineering and Project Management Association and received the ASCE Thomas Fitch Rowland Prize.

His laboratory integrates AI and robotics to overcome limitations of conventional construction and advance a new smart-construction paradigm. Research combines construction-specific physical AI, digital-twin-based construction supervision, infrastructure-maintenance BIM, unmanned construction, and human-robot interfaces. The group is also expanding from terrestrial infrastructure to robotic and remote construction for space environments.
