Infrastructure Structural Engineering Chae, Yunbyeong Professor Structural Engineering
About

Professor Yunbyeong Chae received his B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.S. in Civil, Urban and Geosystem Engineering from Seoul National University and his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Lehigh University. He worked at the ATLSS Engineering Research Center and served as assistant and associate professor at Old Dominion University before joining Seoul National University in 2021. He conducts research and teaching in structural dynamics, earthquake engineering, experimental structural engineering, structural control, and structural health monitoring.

His research improves the safety and reliability of bridges, buildings, nuclear facilities, and special structures subjected to earthquakes, wind, and other dynamic loads. Topics include multiaxial real-time hybrid simulation, active and passive vibration control, dynamic assessment of floating structures, deep-learning-based seismic response and damage assessment, image-based structural health monitoring, and seismic isolation of critical nuclear equipment.
